smartBridges wins prestigious National Infocomm Award

smartBridges, a provider of carrier-class outdoor fixed wireless broadband equipment, has bagged the prestigious National Infocomm Award for its development of the Nexus product line. The innovative Nexus platform allows for the possibility of ‘unwiring our world’ and enabling wireless Broadband access across entire towns, states or even countries.

The award is the highest industry accolade given jointly by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and the Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF). It recognizes innovations that have contributed to improved technologies and have been successfully commercialized in global markets.

Nimesh Parikh, CEO and founder of smartBridges, said: “We are absolutely delighted to win this award. We have been leading the development of outdoor wireless broadband technologies and this award validates the importance of our new product architecture to provide advanced intelligent features for wireless broadband users. The Nexus provides a cost-effective solution for wireless triple-play (video, voice and data) applications.”

The Nexus platform is a new benchmark for intelligent wireless last mile broadband access. The distributed intelligence architecture of the Nexus platform increases the robustness of the wide area networks and enhances management capability. These advanced features are vital for Telecom operators and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to deploy large and scalable networks. This enhances the stability of their existing networks and allows them to grow their wireless footprint.

smartBridges Design recognized as an integral part of Global Success

smartBridges was recently recognized as one of the companies that embraced product design as an integral part for global success. The recognition was from International Enterprise (IE) (the government agency spearheading efforts to develop Singapore's external economic wing).

IE established the Design for Internationalization program for global companies to embrace design in a holistic manner at the corporate level.

IE collaborated with PSB Corporation for a seminar on “New Economy – Success with Design”. Four design experts had been invited to share the latest trends in product design, brand communications design and design IP issues. The seminar was also the launch pad for a design case study book called “Designed for Global Success”, featuring a total of 14 companies, that have effectively and successfully used design to add value in their global business strategy such as Creative Technology and smartBridges. One of the highlights of the book is the qualitative data of how design has boosted companies’ market share, improved profitability and created new customer values.

Said Mr Ted Tan, Assistant Chief Executive Officer, IE Singapore, “With contributions from several design-led companies and consulting firms, this collection of 14 design case studies highlights how each of these companies has leveraged on design in their corporate strategy for market expansion and growth. Our Design for Internationalization program will continue to raise the awareness of design, and we will work with globalising Singapore-based companies to tap on design for that differentiating winning edge.”

“Design moves beyond the aesthetics to solve problems; it realizes potential and creates new value for the company. In today's fast changing global market place, the key is to know the design elements that will captivate and deliver quality. The design has to add value to a company's brand and communicate the experience that customers want," commented Daniel Chai, R & D Director for smartBridges.
