sB3417 [2.4 - 2.5 GHz] ISM Band, LongRange WiFi CPE
sB3418 [5.1 - 5.9 GHz] U-NII 1,2,3 and ISM Bands, LongRange WiFi CPE

The airClient™ series is a Customer Edge solution, designed specifically for communication service providers to establish cost effective wireless infrastructure capable of delivering IP based data and voice services. The airClient series leverages smartBridges’ 3rd generation Carrier Wireless IP (CWiP™) technology platform based on the state-of-the-art Near Line of Sight (NrLOS) COFDM wireless technology and advanced networking layer 2/3 capabilities. The airClient can be quickly installed to reduce the cost of the truck-roll. Easy deployment and centralized management features of the airClient series make it suitable for scalable and large network deployments.

The airClient series operates in the 2.4 to 2.5 GHz and 5.1 to 5.9 GHz Unlicensed ISM and U-NII 1,2,3 bands. It supports both Point-to-Point (PtP) and Point-to-Multipoint (PtMP) wireless broadband applications. RF interference mitigation, resistance to multi-path delays, advanced networking and management features of airClient help realize affordable and reliable wireless subscriber installations. The airClient is available in different hardware form factors and the software features to meet wide variety of performance and cost requirements.

The airClient can deliver as much as 12 Mbps of TCP/IP data throughput. airClient can support range of up to 8 km in low band and up to 5 km in high band with integrated antenna. In Point-to-Multipoint (PtMP) mode, airClient can support up to 32 client devices. An external high gain antenna can be used to achieve longer range. The individual client Bandwidth Management, Voice and Data traffic prioritization ensures reliable delivery of data and voice over the radio access network.

Quality of Service (QoS) and bandwidth management for the wireless interface make the airClient the intelligent choice for neighborhood-wide ISP networks. The special hardware and software features significantly simplify how a subscriber can self-install the device and connect to the service provider’s network. When used with smartBridges suite of remote management solutions, service providers can realize significant cost savings on new subscriber provisions. Maintenance and after-sales support costs are also reduced.

Application Scenario

Feature Highlights

Intelligent Networking Features for Data and Voice Services
Quality of Service (QoS) for traffic prioritization, bandwidth management for the wireless interface makes airClient the intelligent choice for enterprise class customers. The ability to guarantee bandwidth to critical applications, limit bandwidth to low priority applications, and mark packets to provide end-to-end QoS, ensures enhanced performance for data and voice traffic.

The airClient includes Network Address Translation (NAT) and Router capabilities for isolating the service provider's network. When used with smartBridges’ Provider’s Edge solution (e.g. airPoint™), the airClient can work as a fully transparent bridge for joining remote network segments.

Subscriber Provisioning and Management System
Field installation is time consuming and expensive; therefore, the airClient is designed for rapid out-of-the-box installation. Service providers can now better manage and support the airClient installed at the customer premise through the optional Auto-Configuration System (ACS) and Device Management System (DMS). Every time the airClient associates to the service provider’s network, the ACS automatically authenticates and configures the device with the correct bandwidth settings, service related parameters, and firmware version. The DMS can be used by the service provider for post sales support, including getting remote access to the airClient for device troubleshooting and configuration.

LongRange™ Performance that goes the Distance
airClient features LongRange™ wireless design to deliver high data throughput and long operating range. smartBridges' superior design of the radio receiver enhances the sensitivity. The superior receiver and transmitter characteristics and parameter optimization for long range result in the wireless coverage. Better range translates directly into lower wireless infrastructure cost when covering a large area.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) Support
The airClient is powered through the Ethernet cable by using the PoE injector that is supplied as a standard accessory. PoE support allows the airClient to be installed away from the subscriber’s computer, and at a location, which offers better radio performance.

Antenna Options
The airClient comes standard with an integrated antenna, sufficient for most subscriber locations. For longer distances or for higher data speeds, an optional higher gain antenna can be attached to the external antenna connector.
